what happened to the innocence
of that little child
has it been completely lost
in a world gone wild
what happened to the truth
that was seen in their eyes
has it been swept away
as the world passed them by
what happened to the faith
shown only in a childs way
has it been totally torn down
as disappointments ruled their days
what happened to the love
in a childs heart so pure
has it vanished too
as abandonments made them unsure
has it all gone away
never again to be
or is it hiding somewhere
afraid to let the world see
